Cao Xiao-Qing

Professor, doctoral supervisor in CCOM (Central Conservatory of Music), Honorary Professor in Tianjin Conservatory.

Vice President of the Accordion Society of China, President of the Accordion Society of Beijing.

Professor Cao graduated from Tianjin Conservatory of Music and became a teacher in TJCM; in 1992 he was sent as the first accordion student to study at the University of Music and Drama in Hanover, Germany by Chinese Ministry of Culture.

 

In 1997, Professor Cao won the first prize in “The 7th Accordion Grand Prix” with his superb artistry and outstanding performance in Baden-Baden, Germany and the first prize again in “The 22nd Citta’ Di Castelfidardo International Accordion Soloist Competition” in Italy.

 

In 2001, he was the first Chinese who has been awarded the “Master Soloist Diploma” for his outstanding achievements in music recital. He taught in the University of Music and Drama in Hannover from 2001 to 2004.

 

In 2004, he established undergraduate course for students majoring in accordion performance at the Central Conservatory of Music where his excellent teaching is well regarded and widely recognized. His students have been highly successful in top international and Chinese accordion competitions.

As first Chinese ever won gold medal/ first prize as an accordion virtuoso in a major international competition, Professor Cao enjoys Special Allowance of the State Council and was awarded by Beijing Municipal Education Commission for Excellent Teacher in Higher Education, in 2017, as a member of “New Century Excellent Talents in University” sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

 

He received the “Golden School Emblem” from the Central Conservatory of Music three times.
