Ciara Moser

Dublin born, Austria raised and Boston based Ciara Moser is a multitalented blind bassist from Austria/Ireland who is highly proficient in various styles and genres in band, orchestra, film and ensemble projects live and in the studio.

She completed her Master's in jazz performance at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. During her studies at Berklee she was mentored by greats such as John Patitucci, Danilo Perez, Terri Lyne Carrington, Joe Lovano, Victor Wooten, and many more. Additionally, she holds a master degree in music pedagogy from the University of Music and performing Arts, Vienna. Besides numerous performances with local band and ensemble projects in the New York and Boston areas, she has been playing bass for Danilo Perez since January 2022. she has performed with him at the Chile Jazz Festival in Santiago, Chile, the Hay Festival in England, the Paradiso Jazz Festival in Bologna, Italy, and the Cultural Summit in Abu Dhabi. In addition to other international performances in the UK, Panama, Ecuador, Austria and Germany, she shared the stage with artists such as Terri Lyne Carrington, Braxton Cook, Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey and more. After collaborating and recording with many artists, Ciara released her debut album “Blind. So what?” in October 2023.

 In addition to winning various awards and taking part in many competitions, Ciara was a guest in various TV-Shows, radio-shows and podcasts like for example the well-known Austrian TV-Shows “Barbara Karlig” and “Vera”.

 Since March 2019 Ciara has her own podcast called “Blind. So What?” in which she talks about daily life as a blind person. Currently she works as a performer and recording artist in the Boston / New York area and is a faculty member and staff accompanist at Berklee College of music. Beside playing bass on many recording projects, Ciara released her jazz / fusion debut album “Blind. So what?” in October 2023.

Ciara’s debut album “Blind. So what?” is centered around music and blindness and was featured through international press coverage such as the premier guitar magazine and the jazzwise magazine. One of the songs on the album holds a “young jazz composers award 2023” by the ascap foundation. In fall 2023 Ciara brought the album project on a souled out release tour through established venues in Austria such as Porgy & Bess Vienna or Jazzit Salzburg. During the tour, the euvre was featured on national TV and radio channels such as ORF 3 and Ö 1. Ciara was featured as the main act of the 20 year celebration of the ipop (institute for popular music” of the University for Music and performing arts, Vienna and she performed a bigband arrangement of her composition “the call to see beyond” which was broadcasted on national TV-Channels around the country.

Ciara is currently a teacher at Berklee College of Music in the Bass Department.
