Tetraktis - Percussioni
Tetraktis Percussion in many years of activity has realized artistic projects of recognized value.
In thirty years of research and concerts, the ensemble has distinguished itself by its in-depth interpretation of the historical repertoire for percussion instruments and, in parallel, for incessant experimentation.
Among the goals that the group has always set has a very important role the search for artistic relationships between different styles and languages, between different cultures and performance modes, allowing the group to evolve both in the performance and intellectual spheres.
Musical experiences shared with musicians of different artistic backgrounds have contributed to enrich the ensemble, currently considered among the most innovative and original on the national scene.
Artists such as Lorenzo Jovanotti, DJ Ralf, Christian Meyer, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Philipp Geist, Alessio Allegrini, Alessandro Carbonare have believed and supported this constant evolution.
Another mission of the quartet remains that of collaboration aimed at creativity. This has allowed an intense sharing of artistic projects with living Italian composers such as Alessandro Solbiati, Riccardo Panfili, Federico Gardella, Mauro Montalbetti, Silvia Colasanti, Giovanni Sollima and others.
By virtue of this, the history of Tetraktis has contributed strongly to the creation of an original Italian repertoire previously only partially developed, dedicated to the percussion quartet. Part of the research is documented in original record works such as Millenniun Bug (Rara), Drama (self-produced), Liaisons Dangereuses (Giotto Music), Piazzarama (Giotto Music), Inventions (Decca) together with A. Carbonare. Ionisatiuon (Brillant Classic), SHI - si faccia by Carlo Boccadoro (Macerata Opera Festival 2018).
The quartet has performed in prestigious Concert Seasons including Lingotto Musica, Amici della Music of Florence, Amici della Musica of Perugia, Amici della Musica of Trapani, Società dei Concerti of Trieste, Unione Musicale of Turin, Musica Insieme Bologna, Festival dei due Mondi Spoleto, Aosta Classica, Salone della Musica di Torino, Goethe Institut Roma, Ferrara Musica, Società del Quartetto di Milano, Filarmonica Romana, Stresa Festival, Ravello Festival, IUC, Associazione A. Scarlatti of Naples.
Tetraktis has performed live on Radio Rai Tre Suite: “Radiotre In Festa” in Cervia, “Materadio” in Matera 2012, live radio broadcasts from the Radio Rai studios in Rome.
Over the years Tetraktis, has also spread its original repertoire to Germany, Turkey, Nigeria and the United States of America.
The members of the Tetraktis quartet boast experience with major orchestras: Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
They have been conducted by C. Abbado, D. Harding, P. Boulez, M. Rostropovic, A. Pappano, L. Maazel, Y. Temirkanov, R. Muti, R. Chailly. In 2019 Tetraktis Percussion was invited by the Institute for Music of the G. Cini of Venice to hold the Workshop Research-led Performance: Percussion Create-Action. For the occasion, pieces by N. Castiglioni, G. Manzoni, F. Romitelli, and G. Cresta. The Workshop was also supported by the participation of musicologists such as Gianmario Borio, Gianfranco Vinay and Veniero Rizzardi.
Tetraktis Percussioni in 2020 won the MAECI ministerial prize, chosen among the five best chamber ensembles representing Italian contemporary music abroad.
In 2022 the ensemble presented Vibrazioni - the sound from the root, a series of sound installations made in sites natural sites where the musicians intended to search for vibrant relationships with the impulses coming from nature.
Protagonists of the performances were trees, water, earth, stones, supported by sound artist Federico Nettle. The experience allowed the birth of a new project inaugurated in 2023, Lumine Arbor Sonus.
An immersive performance for resonant trees where sounds generated by percussionists are processed in live electronic and in videomapping, within the forest transformed into a natural amphitheater for the occasion.

I Percussionisti del Teatro alla Scala
The percussion ensemble was founded in 1978 on the advice of Claudio Abbado. The name I Percussionisti della Scala is connected to the theater where the instrumentalists come from and where they carry out their main activity: at the Teatro alla Scala they experience various experiences and different musical realities, as well as various applications and theoretical possibilities of the numerous percussion instruments.
They play in all the most important theaters in the world, both with the theater orchestra itself and with that of the philharmonic directed by the most prestigious conductors. Coordinated since 1995 by Loris Francesco Lenti, they have held hundreds of concerts in front of the most varied audiences, participating in numerous high-level music festivals both in Italy and abroad: Teatro alla Scala, Ravenna Festival, Ludwigsburger Festival, “Manzoni” Theater and “Verdi” Conservatory of Milan, Turin Music Fair, World Music Day Festival.
Percussionists are often featured at the opening of auditoriums, theaters and concert halls,at events for large crowds and live recorded concerts for Italian radio stationsand abroad. In addition to participating in concerts broadcast by Rai, RaiSat International and other private networks, they have opened humanitarian festivals such as the Telethon by playing together with great artists of rock music and taking part in notable events, playing on the squares together with African folk groups, improvising with groups of techno-performers of experimental music aimed at young people.
The group - very ductile and versatile in terms of the number and names of performers - has had the opportunity to perform many absolute national and world premieres with music expressly composed and dedicated to them by well-known composers: Luigi Nono, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Giacomo Manzoni, Azio Corghi, Marcello Abbado, Marco Betta, Federico Dell'Agnese, Carlo Galante, Alessandro Lucchetti, Luca Mosca, Gianpaolo Testoni, Marco Tutino, Paolo Ugoletti, Maurice Jarre, Alberto Barbero, Lorenzo Ferrero, Matteo D'Amico, Maurizio Fabrizio, Stefano Martinotti, Ailem Carvajal Gomez, Luigi Marinaro, Luigi Abbate, performed both at the Teatro alla Scala and at various festivals.
Their first record was received very favorably by critics and the public. The release of I Colori of Percussion (the group's first fully live), followed by Fla-Ga-Dà, releasedin the fall of 2003, began a new string of CDs by the group. The latest, Live at Teatro Scala, from 2008, is for Milano Musica for the John Cage Festival.
